My Current Favourite Shows

Hi all!

Recently my inner film critic has sort of died down and my fan-girling mode has risen again. So why not follow that and talk about my current 4 favourite shows, in no particular order.

  • Manifest
Manifest - Rotten Tomatoes

Synopsis – A commercial airliner suddenly reappears after being missing for five years. As those aboard reintegrate into society, they experience guiding voices and visions of events yet to occur, and soon a deeper mystery unfolds.

I only watched a few episodes of season 1, but so far I love the plot of this show. The story is so intriguing and the mystery of the passengers being alive after 5 years – having not aged. It shows a different perspective on how relationships can change within these years apart. I love the drama and the mystery of this show. Can’t wait for the mysteries to be unraveled!

  • F4 Thailand
F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers - Wikipedia

Synopsis – An ordinary, poor girl, Gorya, stands up to and through a series of mishaps and conflicts, falls in love with Thyme, the leader of the F4, the most powerful young men in Thailand.

This show does keep me on the edge, the episodes come out every week and so far am loving it. For those who don’t know, this show is adapted from the original South Korean show ‘Boys Over Flowers’. Yes I did watch it during my early high schooling and loved it at the time, mainly because I was in love with Yoon Ji-Hoo. But it was too dramatic and long. That Kdrama was then adapted into the Chinese F4 show which I zoned out of and stopped watching – seemed like the number of episodes never ended!!. When my sis told me about this version, I was very hesitant in thinking that it wouldn’t beat the original one and the story might be dragging. But ever since I started this show, I was very hooked onto the story and the characters. This is the first Thai drama I have watched and surprisingly it is more intense and serious than the Korean one. Also, I love Dew (known as Ren in the show), I have no words to describe how amazing & hot he looks!! Overall, for first time Thai drama viewers and fans of the original Korean show, you will not be disappointed with this one.

  • The Wheel of Time
The Wheel of Time (TV Series 2021– ) - IMDb

Synopsis – The lives of five young villagers change forever when a strange and powerful woman arrives, claiming one of them is the child of an ancient prophecy with the power to tip the balance between Light and Dark forever. They must choose whether to trust this stranger – and each other – with the fate of the world before the Dark One breaks out of His prison, and the Last Battle begins.

Lovers of fantasy and adventure, meet the Wheel of Time. Last month my dad was already watching this show, and I happened to sit in part way through the third episode, just cause I was bored… and little did I know, I would be so hooked. Only took me a few post that to finish off the series…pure binge watching ;). This show may have a lot gruesome scenes but OMG the story and adventure that the characters go through is so different and engaging. For those who have already watched it, I think I might be better off as a Yellow Ajah. But seriously I do want to become an Ajah myself. Overall, love the world building, plot and the characters. Can’t wait to watch season 2!

  • Erkenci Kuş
Erkenci Kus (TV Series 2018–2019) - IMDb

Synopsis – Sanem, a young girl with aspirations of becoming a writer, is forced by her parents to choose between an arranged marriage and finding a proper job. Rushing into a new job at an advertising company, she soon falls for her boss, Can.

This is one of my first Turkish shows that I have recently watched. I don’t know how but scrolling through the different shows on YouTube got me to this one. But I don’t regret it since this has got to be one of my favourite RomComs that I could binge watch any day. I loved the two main cast’s chemistry and the goofiness of this show. It is definitely not recommended for a critical mind. Why? Because Can Yaman’s charms and handsomeness will definitely fog up your mind for a very long time. Like it did with me, but still no regrets. So if you want to watch a lighthearted, time-pass Turkish show and want to see someone good looking (aka Can 😍🤌), then this should be added to your watch list.
